a. Ministry Description
The AABF Chairman is to provide:
i. Pastoral and relational chairing (moderating) of the Continental Council and Continental Leadership Council. In the absence of, or at the discretion of the Chairman, the AABF Vice Chairman who is the Trustee Committee Chairman may be called upon to chair from time to time. The Chair of the AABF Continental Council shall not embody the authority of the whole Continental Council except as provided for in these Bylaws.
ii. Supportive representation that supports the Executive President and in programmed coordination with the Executive President helps represent the AABF, especially with AABF Member Bodies.
iii. Wisdom strengthening by serving on various groups including the Trustee Committee, as a wise and respected Continental leader seeking to help strengthen the ministry of the AABF.
iv. Structural implementation of the leadership model outlined in 2 Timothy 2:1-2 of serving in the grace of the Lord, in continuity with the principles received, and intentionally bridging to the next servant leader.
v. The Trustee Committee may adopt an additional ministry description for the Chairman. The Chairman is expected to work cooperatively with the Executive President. The Chairman is a volunteer role that is not salaried or paid by the AABF. The AABF will seek to assist the Chairman with any necessary expense of specific work assignments from the Executive President to the extent the budget permits. Assurance of reimbursement must be obtained in advance from the Executive President.
vi. Tenure of service will commence with the start of a new AABF Quinquennium and will conclude at the end of that AABF Quinquennium.
vii. The AABF Chairman is limited to one term (whether defined as a full term or completing an unexpired term for longer than 365 days).
b. Requirements
• The Chairman must be a Pastor with a minimum of bachelor’s degree in theology
• The Chairman must be currently serving or have previously served as a Chairman or Executive President (General Secretary & CEO) of AABF National Independent Baptist Body in good standing with the AABF.
• The Chairman must have a working knowledge in English
• Applications from AABF Central Africa Sub-region are highly considered (Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea).
• The Chairman must provide a letter of support from his NIBB confirming its support for him in his responsibility as AABF Chairman for the duration of his term of office.
